The semester of baking is coming to an end, I will write up some recipes and ideas that came up over the course of the semester during the next few weeks. I took two baking courses this semester, Yeast Breads was the first. It deals in breads obviously, muffins, biscuits, and other beginning baking principles. The second was European cakes and Pastries, this course dealt in very classic approaches to tortes, pies, and other fine pastries. There's a few examples of what we made to the right!
Aside from baking class last weekend I had attended a writers seminar held at my school. It was hosted by Garrett McCord, a fellow blogger with a wonderful blog Vanilla Garlic. His writing has been featured in Edible Magazine, the Sacramento Bee, the Miami Herald and others. The seminar was phenomenally entertaining, we did short exercises on descriptive food writing. My favorite was the "What is a lemon" exercise, the differences in the way each person approached it showed the unique personality of each of us. Anyway I have a few reports to write for the last week of classes so I will post more later.
